ORCA and our members would like to extend our thoughts and prayers to all those who have been affected by the tragic fire at La Residence du Havre in L’Isle Verte, Quebec.
The safety of our residents is always the paramount concern for retirement home operators across Ontario. This year, Ontario became the first province to move towards mandatory sprinkler retro-fitting in retirement homes. ORCA and its members played an integral role in the collaborative process that produced these new fire safety regulations and continue to collaborate with the government and the Office of the Fire Marshal on training and education.
We continue to be thankful for the work of all firefighters and other emergency personnel in responding to emergency situations and in working with retirement homes to keep our residents safe.
