Meet James Schlegel, President and CEO of Schlegel Health Care, which includes Schlegel Villages. The Schlegel family has been in the seniors’ care business for over 70 years, and James carries on his grandmother and grandfather’s values of creating deep and meaningful relationships throughout the villages.
As a third-generation Schlegel, James always knew he wanted to join the family business. During his summer months off from school, James would work various roles in the villages, including as a nurse’s aide. He later graduated with a Masters of Accounting and obtained his CA designation in 1992.
James’ early experiences inside and outside the seniors’ care space shaped him into the servant leader he is today, helping the residents and team members in Schlegel’s 18 villages flourish. James’ favourite days are when he gets to put on the Schlegel Villages shirt and work a shift with team members to learn from them and discover further ways they can innovate throughout the organization.
