January is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month- the Alzheimer Society’s campaign to increase public perception about the disease and reduce stigma.
According to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, women are affected twice as much by Alzheimer’s than men. More often than not, women outnumber men living with Alzheimer’s and tend to take on the role of caregiver. This month, the Alzheimer’s Society will be campaigning nationwide to educate women about the warning signs and taking steps to reduce their risk-not only for themselves but for their loved ones.
